Our week...

Adam's continuous feedings are now up to 23 cc's per hour, we were able to increase them twice this week. He's done okay with them.... it was a little rough on him last weekend after going up to 21, but he has been able to push through and continue on. Our next appointment with Dr. Petty is on Tuesday.

Today, Adam had his evaluation with CDSA (Child Development Services Agency) to see where he stands on his development. Considering all that he has been through, he doing well. As expected (based on his prematurity), he is functioning at a 4-month old to 5-month old level. The next step is to write his plan (IFSP) for services. We know they are requesting an occupational therapy (OT) evaluation and play therapy through Easter Seals. We should know more about the exact services he will receive in the next month or so.

Cody, on the other hand, has had a quiet week. He was supposed to play ball on Tuesday and Thursday nights, but both games were rained out. Hopefully, he is well rested and ready for a busy weekend!

One Month at Home With My Two Boys!!

Today, our entire family has been at home together for one month!!

Adam is Six Months Old!!

WOW!! It's hard to believe that Adam is now six months old! He's up to 20 cc's per hour with his continuous feedings.

Tonight, he enjoyed "Bubba's" (aka Cody) C-Ball game. He managed to stay awake through the first part, but of course was asleep by the end of the game. Cody scored one run tonight! It was a good day for both boys!!

Weekly Update

Adam did good with the increasing of his continuous feedings this week, he is now at 19 cc's per hour. He still isn't liking the bottle or food. Oh well, I'm sure he thinks he is full, so it just annoys him to try anything else.

Friday afternoon, we went to Baptist to pick-up Adam's prescriptions and to visit the NICU. It was our first time back during second shift, so we were able to see some of the nurses that we hadn't seen since we left. We enjoyed our visit, and before we knew it, we had been there for over an hour. We'll have to do that again soon.

Most of my family - Nana & Papaw, Granny, and Amy (aka Mamie - to Cody), Jake and Tanner - came to visit on Saturday to watch Cody play ball and to celebrate Mother's Day....... and, of course, it was Cody's first rained out game of the season. So, we all just hung out at the house until Matt got home from work, then it was time to eat. It was good to see everyone. Tanner grows taller every time I see him. Cody and Adam enjoyed the visit. I wish my brother, Jeff, could have been here!

Today, they were visited by NanNan Barbara and their other cousins, Breanna and Brett. Lots of fun

Fun in the Highchair

Adam tried applesauce for the first time today! Not too successfully, I might add. He didn't like having it in his mouth and wasn't thrilled with the swallowing of it. He seems to like the taste of flavored Pedialyte, but doesn't take the bottle well with it, either. We have to use his pacifier and drip it on it, or squeeze it in his mouth and he'll sort of lick at it (reminds me of a cat). We'll keep working with him.

Surgery Clinic Visit #2

Happy late Mother's Day to everyone!

We went to see Dr. Petty again this morning. All is going fine at home with Adam. He seemed to be pleased with his progress. He told us that we could try to give Adam some Pedialyte since he hasn't been taking his formula by bottle (he gags and pushes it out with his tongue), and we can try to give him a little bit of applesauce and bananas. Dr. Petty suggested that we increase his continuous feedings twice a week now and see how Adam handles it. So, tomorrow we'll increase his feedings to 18 cc's per hour, and then again on Friday to 19 cc's per hour. After our appointment, Adam made his first trip to Chick-fil-a and to Sam's!

We are also doing a short schedule with Home Health now. They are only coming two nights a week for two hours in order to do weight checks, check his vitals and to do his blood draws (once a week). So, we're completely on our own five days during the week!
